Today is an exciting day! I am releasing a project long in the making. Remember my hand puppet pattern? I have revamped it and created an 11-page how-to manual to design and crochet hand puppets. Not only are there detailed instructions and photos of how to crochet the basic puppet, but there are also numerous options for hair, clothing, and accessories provided so you can customize them:
- Hair (curly, straight, short, long, braids, ponytail, up-do, balding, moustache, beard)
- Skirts (regular, long, fancy, ballet)
- Collars (regular, wide)
- Hats (flat, pointed)
The manual is available now on Etsy for $8.00 USD. Click here to view the listing. This would make a great Christmas gift for any crocheter who also loves to design! You could even assemble a kit for a gift, adding some Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Yarn and other supplies to go with the printed manual.
From now on, I will be posting photos of my own puppet creations with the list of specific design choices so you can easily recreate them yourself by following this manual. For example, we’ll kickstart this with Call the Midwife inspired characters. This nun and nurse are not specific characters from the show, but their costumes are certainly inspired by it!
I hope you enjoy dabbling in design with these cute crocheted puppets!
