Free CHUMMY

I am so excited to be posting this pattern! I’ve received permission from Neal Street producers to post it for free on my blog. This Chummy doll is slightly modified from the original, to make the pattern simpler. I use Bernat Handicrafter Cotton to make Chummy, because they have great colours and also because I find cotton works best for making amigurumis. If you have any questions about the instructions or problems with following the pattern, please contact me and I’ll be happy to help. I hope all the crocheters who download this pattern enjoy making their own Chummy doll, and if you’d like to send me a picture of your finished doll, I’d love to post it on my blog. πŸ™‚ Happy crocheting!

    1. Thanks so much πŸ™‚ The glasses are ones I borrowed from my cousin’s American Girl Doll (I think you can probably order a pair off their website maybe?) or try michaels, they might have some in their doll section πŸ™‚

    1. I’m still a bit of a beginner with knitting but I might give it a try, I’ll let you know when I’ve managed to make a knit Chummy πŸ™‚

  1. This is just wonderful!! Do you know if they are going to be making any more of the characters into dolls? The show is so good and it would be great to get a whole set of the characters. Thank you so much for offering this I really appreciate it and now I must learn how to crochet!!!

  2. Hello! I made my very own Chummy and I adore her! Thank you so much for sharing the sweet pattern (it was easy to read and do!) Where could I send the photo to please? I’d love to share her with you since you were kind enough to give the pattern for free! I will try my hand at the other gals too!

  3. Our towns birth center, http://www.birth-your-way.com/ (we are in Yucaipa CA), posted a link to this site and the pattern to make chummy. I hadn’t crocheted in some time, and was happy to have a such a cute craft idea to get back into the fold with. Chummy was fun to make, and she turned out great. So, kudos to a great pattern. I have a pic of her I’ll email πŸ™‚

  4. .living here in the UK we have just had the final episode of series 3 of CTM, I won’t spoil anything by revealing any details but suffice to say that Chummy features quite heavily.
Your characters so far as spot on and I would love to know if you have plans to do any of the other characters? Maybe even the Doctor too?
They are amazing creations!! I wish someone would do knitted versions as I am an avid knitter πŸ™‚

  5. Helllooooo! I just wanted to pop by and tell you what a brilliant pattern you’ve written. Thank you so much for sharing it. I loved how my Chummy turned out!

  6. thank you for posting this lovely pattern. I am making this and it is not turning out like yours. I feel its because I do not have the correct yarn. When I type in the search for the yarn I cant seem to find anything that fits the description or anything that would work for this doll. What weight is the yarn? Can you send a pic of the label of the yarn that you used? Thank you

    1. Hi Rebecca,
Sorry for the confusion! The Yarn I used is a worsted weight in cotton. Here is a link to the yarn I used for the skin color (Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Scents yarn in the Chamomile color)
      http://www.yarnspirations.com/handicrafter-cotton-scents.html

and the rest of the colours are also Bernat Handicrafter Cotton and you should be able to easily find these on the same site, although they are not all the scents kind, but still Handicrafter Cotton. They can also usually be found at Michaels, another that’s exactly the same as this type is sugar n cream or peaches n’ creme cotton yarn. If you’re still having any problems with the pattern or finding yarn, just let me know at my email amysgurumis@gmail.com and I’ll hopefully be able to give you some more help! πŸ™‚
